CSA Basics
Our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) membership program allows customers pick up on a regular basis, which can be pay-as-you-go or prepaid for a discount. Having people sign up for the CSA and pick up every month (or every other month) helps us manage our inventory, which helps us take the best possible care of our customers. Cows don’t grow quickly, so this planning is a huge help to us!
CSA customers get to choose what is in their order at every pickup, and there is no minimum order. If you’re not sure where to start, try our Standard Package, which contains 5 lbs of ground beef, one 4 lb roaster chicken, and 2 lbs of sweet pork sausage.
CSA members pick up their packages at the farm—it’s a great opportunity to “know your farmer, know your food!” Pickups are typically the first Thursday and Saturday of the month. Thursday pickups are from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday pickups are from 12-2 p.m. at St. Croix Farm. CSA purchases are made through the webstore. Our monthly newsletter contains pickup dates and the all-important order deadline.
If you can’t commit to picking up every month, that’s ok too! You can choose to pick up every other month, or just place orders for Farm Pickup whenever your freezer is running low.
If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please ask! Inventory changes frequently, so we are happy to help find solutions to keep you fed.
CSA Member Information and Responsibilities
CSA members are part of our farm family, and everyone in the family has a job to do! Here’s what we ask of you so that we can take the best possible care of everyone.
Order Deadline
This is the most important thing you can do. Be sure to select CSA Member Pickup at checkout, not Farm Pickup. Because of the way our ordering system works, we cannot fill bags for pickup until we have ALL the orders for that month, so please help us get everyone’s bags ready and in place for pickup.
To make this easier for you, we send one newsletter every month, and the order deadline should show up in the subject line. Even if you don’t read the newsletter content, please scroll down to the big red box to check pickup dates and the order deadline.
Choosing a Pickup Location
If you’re picking up a CSA package during one of our scheduled CSA dates, be sure to click CSA Member Pickup (and choose your date)—do NOT select Farm Pickup. You’ll still pick up on the farm, but this makes sure we can have your bundle ready to go during the right date and time. It is crucial that CSA orders are placed by the order deadline. Orders cannot be processed and bags cannot be filled until everyone has placed theirs.
CSA members who would like to place orders outside of pickup dates should choose Farm Pickup.
Contact Information
We need your updated phone and email address to contact you about your orders. A reminder text will be sent to everyone who has not placed an order on the day before the deadline.
It is very important to show up on the date you choose for pickup! We don’t want anyone to go hungry, so make sure you come get your dinner! If you need to switch your pickup date or if you’re running late, that’s ok—just let us know. We are always willing to be flexible, so please let us know if your plans change.
Prepay Discount
To get a prepay discount, you will need to set up a Buyer Account and give us cash or check to add as credit, then we will add an additional 5% to your account on our webstore. If you want to pay ahead for a discount, please contact Eva by emailing [email protected] or calling 518-869-9800 to discuss payment options. If you have prepaid with us, remember to choose Buyer Account and choose Cash or Check for payment information at checkout. The webstore will always ask for a backup payment method in addition to your Buyer Account.
