How to Buy
Want to get started but not sure where? Let us give you some pointers.
Webstore
We offer all our products for purchase on our store. Our webstore is run on a platform specifically built for farmers, and most products are priced by weight. It may look a little different than what you're used to, so if you have questions, see our FAQs below! We also use the webstore to manage our monthly CSA pickups on the farm. Remember: if you want to see it in your bag, we need to see it in your cart!

On the Farm
All of our products are available for purchase on the farm. This is our place of business, but it is also our home, sand we are happy to welcome you in. You can drop in to see us, but you may want to call ahead or email to make sure we have what you're looking for on hand, and that someone will be around to help you!

Farm Stand
We have a selection of our products available at the RuBenHill Farm Stand located on Rte. 67 in Schaghticoke near Geary Road. The farm stand is open daily 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. from July through October, but meat purchases are only available on weekends. We also offer pre-ordering through our website for pickup at the farm stand on Saturdays and Sundays between noon and 3 p.m.

CSA
We offer a CSA membership program, which lets customers pre-pay for products and get a discount on their purchase. This guarantees that the items you pay for will be available for you, and helps us plan for what we need in advance. Cows don't grow quickly, so this planning is a huge help to us. Everybody wins!

We now manage our CSA pickup dates, along with any add-on purchases, through our webstore.

On Location Pickups
We offer pickup at Rare Form Brewing once a month. We also offer pickups at local businesses. If that's something you and your co-workers would be interested in, give us a call or an email to talk about how to get started!

What else you got?
We offer a lot of events and non-meat services throughout the year. We regularly host farm tours and farm-to table suppers. If you want to know when there's a tour or a dinner coming up, sign up for our newsletter! We are a licensed pheasant hunting preserve, and also host pheasant hunts.

What forms of payment do you take?We accept cash, check, and credit card through our webstore, and on the farm and at the Schaghticoke Farmer's Market. A good rule of thumb is that if you see Eva, any payment type will work. Effective January 1, 2024, ALL credit card payments will incur a 3.5% service charge to cover the cost of ever-increasing processing fees. Cash & check payment options are always available. At Rare Form we only accept online orders paid in advance by credit card. At the farm stand, we accept cash. If Eva is on site, we can accept credit cards, and we accept any payment type for online orders placed in advance for pickup at the farm stand.
-
Do you take credit cards? We do! You can pay with a credit card for any purchase on our webstore. We also offer credit card payments in person at the farm and at the farmer's market. A 3% processing fee is added to in-person credit card sales.
-
Which pickup location do I choose? If you're pickling up for a CSA package during one of our scheduled CSA dates, be sure to click CSA Member Pickup (and choose your date)—do NOT select Farm Pickup. You'll still pick up on the farm, but this makes sure we can have your bundle ready to go during the right date and time. This applies even if you are not a prepaid CSA member, but want to pick up during the scheduled CSA dates. Some customers find it easier to place a stand-alone order this way, and that works great for us too! But keep in mind we do have a date cutoff so that we can make sure everything is ready in time. If you're placing an order to be picked up at the farm at any other time, choose Farm Pickup. If you're picking up at a different location, like the Schaghticoke Farmer's Market or Rare Form Brewing, choose that location and the date you'd like at checkout.
-
I'm not sure what my final order total will be on the webstore, is that normal? We sell most of our products by weight, and these are finalized after your order is placed. Once we receive your order, John and Mark pull your items and give the actual weight to Eva, who enters them and updates your total. Then you'll receive a message with your final order amount.
-
How do I pay ahead to get a discount on my CSA order?First of all, welcome to the farm family! If you want to pay ahead for a discount, please contact Eva by emailing scfsouth@gmail.com or calling 518-869-9800. We'll help finalize your package and discuss payment options, and then we'll add a credit to your account on our webstore for the amount of your payment. If you have prepaid CSA with us, remember to choose Buyer Account and Cash or Check for payment information at checkout.
-
I signed up for a customized CSA bundle, do I still use the webstore for pickup?Yes. Personalized Product Bundles are listed for your convenience in the webstore. You aren't required to check out using your bundle, so if you forget and add the items individually to your cart that's fine! If you want to make permanent changes in the middle of your membership, let us know and we will update the bundle as inventory allows. Please note some items may not be available from time to time if you have not asked us to hold them in reserve.

I'm confused and I just want to talk to a real person!Give us a call! Eva's number is 518-859-9800. You can also reach out by email.

Can I customize my CSA bundle?Yes! If you want to sign up for a prepaid annual CSA membership, but would like 2 chickens every month, or want to add 2 ribeyes to your bundle, you can absolutely do that. Contact Eva by phone or email to work out the details. Personalized Product Bundles are listed for your convenience in the webstore—you are not required to choose your personal CSA Bundle. If you want to make permanent changes in the middle of your membership, let us know and we will update the bundle as inventory allows. Please note some items may not be available from time to time if you have not asked us to hold them in reserve.
